reference: Joshua Chapter 2:1-24
Rahab was a harlot who lived in the town of Jericho. Rahab believed God wanted the land for his people and that God would destroy Jericho and all of its inhabitants. Rahab's home was built into the city wall. She hid, on her roof in stalks of flax, two scouts who were sent by Joshua to discover the strengths and weaknesses of Jericho. The King of Jericho knew the enemy scouts had gone to Rahab's door and sent word to her to turn them over to him. She replied with word that the two men
came to her door, but left soon after and that she did not know where they had gone. Rahab hid the men until dark, she planned to lower them by a scarlet chord down the wall outside the closed city gates. Before she let them go, she requested a pledge from the scouts that she and all of her family and all of their possessions be saved from the death and destruction that would surely come. The men agreed that if they escaped
with their lives, the blood of she and her family would not be on their heads.
Joshua Chapter 6:1-27 Depicts the fall of Jericho...they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword. They burnt the city with fire.
The promise to Rahab was honored. She and her family were saved!
